Modern Shanshui shows an idealized mountain, where the viewer is expected to achieve illumination by contemplating the idyllic, soothing and sublime landscape. Strings of clouds surround the mountain range. Traditionally, the clouds are blank shapes, white areas. In Modern Shanshui it is impossible for the viewer to immerse himself in the landscape serenely and harmoniously. Modern man is troubled and knows no peace. His/her conscience is tormented by the political, humanitarian crises that are taking place on the global platform.

Modern man feels guilty and a crushing sense of powerlessness overpowers over him.
